Steps
- 01Be wary of any platform that tries to sell to everyone. That is the first red flag.
- 02Feature overload: count the features you will actually use. Most buyers pay for 500 plus and use a handful.
- 03Integration hell: ask exactly which of your tools it connects to, and what custom or third party integrations cost. Custom work can run $5,000 to $15,000.
- 04The training trap: ask how many hours of training your team really needs before it is easy to use.
- 05Vendor lock in: ask what it costs to export all of your data if you leave.
- 06Do not trust a perfect demo. Ask to see a data import, your real workflows and what happens when something breaks.
- 07Watch for pressure tactics: compliance fear, approaching deadlines, "we're the only certified option" and offers that expire at midnight.
- 08Look for simple pricing with no hidden fees, integrations that work out of the box, real support and full control of your data, or own a system built around how you work.
