About Endrup Skovhave

Endrup Skovhave is a Danish forest-garden project on a mission to build the world's largest public food forest, four times bigger than the current largest in Canada. Their old site was a static one-pager: a logo, a few text blocks and a map. Nowhere to join, nothing new to come back for.

The Challenge

The project needed a real digital home: a way to sign up members and take payments, reasons for people to come back, and answers for aspiring forest gardeners. All of it run by a small volunteer team with no time to write content or maintain fragile no-code automations.

What We Built

We rebuilt the website from scratch around membership: Stripe-powered sign-up, a members-only library of in-depth guides and case studies, a season-aware "what's happening in the garden right now" section, and Skovhave AI, a chatbot that answers only from the garden's own library, so members get specific Nordic permaculture knowledge instead of generic AI guesses. Behind it all runs a durable content engine on Cloudflare: it ingests RSS and YouTube every 10 minutes, transcribes video, quality-ranks every item with an LLM, and drafts illustrated articles in four formats that wait for one-click human approval.

The Results

  • From a static one-pager to a living membership platform with sign-up, payments and a member library
  • Content publishes continuously without a volunteer writing a word
  • Skovhave AI answers member questions from the garden's own knowledge instead of generic AI guesses
  • Total AI running cost measured at roughly $27 per month

The Value, Calculated

Conservative estimates. The assumptions are part of the math.

Time it saves

~80 hrs/month

The engine publishes a news article every single day, 12 in-depth blog posts a month, and tips & tricks on top — 45+ pieces monthly. Written by hand, that's roughly 30 hours of daily news (~1 hour each) plus 40+ hours of researched, illustrated blog posts (3–4 hours each). Around 80 hours of writing a month — half a full-time role — reduced to one-click approvals.

Money it saves

~$5,500/month

Buying the same output from freelancers would cost roughly $75–150 per news piece and $150–300 per in-depth blog post. At 30 news articles and 12 blog posts a month, that's around $5,000–6,000 — before tips & tricks. The entire AI stack runs at a measured ~$27 a month, under 1% of the outsourced price, or $65,000+ saved per year.

Money it makes

100% of memberships

The old site had no sign-up and no way to pay, so every membership sold through the new Stripe flow is revenue that structurally could not exist before. And membership is worth paying for: Skovhave AI gives members a permaculture and food-forest expert on demand, trained on the garden's own library, while daily publishing compounds search visibility with zero ad spend.

Return on investment

~1,400% in year one

This build was pro bono because Skovhave is a non-profit, so the math uses what a comparable project costs: $4,000 up front plus a measured ~$35 a month to run, $4,420 in year one. Against that, the content engine replaces roughly $5,500 a month of outsourced writing, $66,000 over twelve months. That is a ~1,400% return, and the build pays for itself in about three weeks. Membership revenue is not counted at all: with 300 members expected in the first year, every krone of it lands on top of this figure.
